Most polar swims take place in rivers, lakes, and oceans. If you are not familiar with a Polar Bear Plunge, it is an event where brave, hardy souls take a 'just for fun' dip in freezing water.
Here in Kingman it is held at exactly 12 noon on New Years Day at one of our community pools. Join in a cold swim on the first day of the new year. It is a great way to ring in the New year. Hot showers will be available to all plungers after the event.
The 2009 polar dip at the Centennial pool was brisk but bearable. It was 48 degrees outside and the water was about 40 degrees. Just right for a freezing swim on the first day of the new year.
